About Me I’ve been blessed to come from absolutely wonderful roots. My parents, Jim and Claudette, have a total commitment and love for family. They have always believed in me and encouraged me to work hard and do what I believe in. Me with my Mom & Dad! My husband, Mark, and my brother, Mike, are my biggest fans. I have 2 wonderful children...Robbie (age 5) and Gianna (age 2). The love and support of my family keeps me going strong through the good times and the tough times. Me & my brother, Mike! Me & my husband, Mark! Throughout high school, I was a tennis player. I was always in shape, because we trained for hours in the hot Texas sun. We had a very competitive team, and we worked so hard year after year to make it to the state championships. When I started college (back in 1985...ooh, that makes me sound old), I ate whatever I wanted and never worked out unless it was a sport or dancing or something fun. I thought yogurt covered pretzels and chocolate covered raisins were nutritious, and I’d eat pounds of them every few days. My dinner consisted of fried cheese and a salad…healthy, right? As you can guess, I gained the typical freshman 15 and, on my small boned 5' frame, it really showed.
I was working in a gym at the time doing childcare, and I watched people workout all day long as I continued to gain weight. I always felt tired, and I wasn't as happy as I had always been. That summer, I went home and started doing Jane Fonda videos on TV. When I got back to school, I began taking the aerobics classes at the gym, and loved them. I studied the instructors and totally changed the way I was doing things in an effort to look and feel better. I worked closely with the gym owner (who is an icon in the fitness industry), and he taught me all about weight training. I took nutrition courses and got certified to teach exercise and started teaching classes on my own. As I saw my body transform, I developed into a "lifestyle" of health that has carried me through the years at the same weight (even after 2 kids). And, the best part is that it has not been hard. Once you change your bad habits, create some good ones, and enjoy the results...your life will be transformed forever. You deserve to look and feel your best, and it's not too late.
